How to pack a beach bag

At no extra cost to you I get commissions for purchases made through links in this post.

Packing a beach bag can be a total art. The goal is to pack as little as possible in your bag. My number one tip is to wear your swimsuit under clothing that you are going to wear after. Always wear sunscreen to protect your skin and you may be more comfortable applying it at home. You may have to reapply it more frequently due to the exposure to the water. You might need different sunscreen for your face and your body as your face is more gentle. Also wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from the sun. Just make sure to remove them before you get in the water. Definitely pack underwear and a shirt in a dry bag. I would suggest one that has pockets so that you can put your phone in it along with anything else you don’t want to get wet or sandy. I would also suggest two towels, one to sit on and one to dry yourself off with. Wear flip flops to the beach so you can put them on afterwards.

If you are making a full day then I would also suggest bringing a cooler with some food in it. Either way bring plenty of water because you do not want to become dehydrated while spending time there. If you decide to bring another drink all the power to you. When bringing a drink put it in an insulated cup to keep your drink cool. Sand will get everywhere so I would suggest food that requires minimal touching.

Another tip is to always shower after. Every beach I have been to has had a shower so you can wash off the salt water and rinse your hair. Some beaches have bathrooms that you can use. If you see these then definitely take advantage of them. It’s really good to also get the sunscreen off of your body, notice a trend here?

Pack everything in a bag. Make sure it is either waterproof or has holes you can push the sand out. I would go with either a tote bag or a backpack. Both are easy to carry and access. Definitely pack a book that you know you will read to keep yourself occupied just make sure to keep it dry and protect it from water.
