Reasons why to travel
At no extra cost to you I get commissions for purchases made through links in this post.
Travel is very important. You will gain a lot of confidence in yourself. You will be more confident in your decisions, plans, and problem solving. Speaking of problem solving you are going to come across issues and problems in your travels. You will become more adaptable because of these issues. You may be a big planner, I know I am still, but you will let go of some of that and meet problems as they arise.
You also may make more friends than traveling in groups. If you travel solo you will be more outgoing and tend to be more friendly to strangers. If you are traveling with a group then you can still make new friends, but it may require more effort from you. Staying at a hostel versus a hotel will expand your options to make new friends.
You will realize that traveling can be a lot of fun. You will learn about other cultures or groups everywhere you visit. Bonus points to you if you are able to learn a new language. No matter if you are fluent or not I would suggest knowing some basic phrases such as hello, thank you, please, and greetings. If you are allergic to anything I would also suggest knowing how to say it in the local language. It can’t hurt to know some medical stuff so you can advocate for yourself.
While traveling you will also tend to place less emphasis on money and more on experiences. I have noticed that I prioritize experiences when I am traveling and that has carried over to my daily life. I don’t waste money on unnecessary things anymore. I would rather save for my next trip or something I really want.
Do you prefer solo travel or in a group?
