Road trip snacks

At no extra cost to you I get commissions for purchases made through links in this post.

When getting snacks together for a road trip it should look like a little kid picked them out. This isn’t a time for typical healthy choices. If you are following a diet then have a treat yourself period on your trip. This really applies if other people will be on the trip too.

If you are trying to save money then pack meals ahead of time. You would be surprised at how much money this can save you. A couple years ago I did a trip from Virginia to Oklahoma for 3 days and packing my meals was so cost effective for me. I was so amazed by it. I would also suggest packing drinks with you. These can be costly to buy on your trip.

I always enjoy having something crunchy to snack on. This may take many forms. Such as chips, pretzels, goldfish, or cheesits. Chips have a tendency to make your hands dirty, so if you have sensory issues I wouldn’t suggest it.

On that topic I would suggest having wipes in your vehicle. They can really come in handy for people. I would also suggest having paper towels with you in your vehicle on a road trip. These can be used after the wipes to dry your hands off.

I’m a sucker for sour candy and always have some on me. In particular I like sour watermelon candy or sour gummy worms myself. I usually go with sour watermelons, as they are both sour and chewy.

Jerky or meat sticks are awesome options for road trips. They create minimal mess and have plenty of protein to keep you fueled. I tend to avoid anything peppered when I’m choosing foods as I don’t really like the taste.
