Visiting a cranberry bog in Massachusetts
At no extra cost to you I get commissions for purchases made through links in this post.
Cranberry bogs are pretty common around these parts. Around here you can observe every part of growing and harvesting the berries. It is definitely a big business and a part of life. You can get some really nice pictures from taking the time to photograph during or right after a harvest. Just do not photograph the workers as that is a big invasion of privacy.
Historically Massachusetts has been a top producer of cranberries. Over one third of the berries come from Massachusetts. Ocean Spray is a cooperative of growers headquartered right in Plymouth, Massachusetts. It is actually in the same building as my grandparents’ favorite breakfast place.
I know it may seem weird to locals, but if you are interested in a hands on approach then I would highly recommend doing a tour of a bog. Definitely check out websites for each tour before committing to one yourself.
What is your favorite version of cranberry sauce?
