How to make friends while traveling

Be friendly and open to meeting new people. You put out vibes and energy to people. If you’re open to meeting new people then other’s will pick up on that vibe too. Choose to stay in hostels over hotels because they aim to connect travelers to other travelers. They also often have activities or day trips for their guests that you can take advantage of and may be fun to do.

It definitely helps if you are already traveling in a group of people. A group means new friends, especially if the people you are traveling with are close to your age. A lot of organizations will have icebreakers for the members who are traveling so that people can make connections before they go.

I would suggest wearing something from where you are from as that can be a great conversation starter and encourage others to come up to you. You are more likely to start a conversation this way.

If you talk with an accent then embrace that fully. Try not to put one on if you don’t have one naturally. Nothing is more annoying than someone pretending to have an accent. The way somebody talks is also a conversation starter for a lot of people.
